What NOT to eat, food that makes you ugly!

It is important we accept that food plays a vital role in keeping us healthy and beautiful-- please refer to my other blog 'Food that makes you beautiful!'. However, with this blog I will be enumerating food that are in general unhealthy and could potentially damage your looks. Although my advice is to keep an open mind when it comes to reading articles and blogs about food-- on the other hand, my little list of what not to eat are just simply based on common sense.

Anyhow, remember when you were young and your parents were always reminding you to not eat too much junk foods such as chocolates--specially at night? Ofcourse, there were times when you listened and controlled your midnight chocolate cravings but what happened to the times when you didnt listen? Perhaps you got a tooth ache? Ouch, yes it was awfully painful!
So let my 'what not to eat list' be that reminder or perhaps be an input to your own 'what-not-to-eat-list'. Personally, I believe that this list of 'What not to eat' is unhealthy and should either only be eaten occassionally or be completely avoided!

'What not to eat'
  • Food that contains hydrogenated fats-- this type of fat increases your bad cholesterol and worst lowers your good cholesterol which could be fatal if the consumption of this type of food is in high levels such as everyday or every meal. If not reduced or avoided this can cause bloating, obesity and many other ugly diseases. An example of food with hydrogenated fat content is donuts, instant noodles, McDonald's, vegetable margarines and so on. Check the food label for information on the ingredients. Often, healthy brands would specify in their labels 'No Hydrogenated Fats'.

  • Salty food increases high blood pressure--as a result could increase the chances of getting heart diseases. Furthermore, salt also stores fat in our body which means the more salt intake then the more lipids or fat is stored in our body which could also lead to bloating and damage our looks. An example of salty food; salami, smoked meat, soy sauce, salted nuts.

  • Greasy and oily food could trigger acne break outs which is not pleasant specially if the breakouts are concentrated in your face. An example; McDonald's, pizza, fish&chips and so on.

  • Processed meat are often high in saturated fat, sodium and sugar which are strongly linked to cancer, obesity and other nervous system diseases such as dementia. Furthermore, saturated fat is a kind of fat that's very hard to burn even with exercise--Hence, overeating this kind of food could lead to weight gain and prove to be fatal due to the diseases linked with this kind of food.

  • Artificial drinks such as soda contains artificial ingredients such as food coloring which weakens our teeth and could cause dental decay. It also contains artificial sugar which is also heavily linked to obesity and metabolic disorders.

  • Food with empty calories such as butter, lard, ice cream, sweets, burgers, hot dogs and so on. These food are high in fat content but low in nutrition. This means high intake of these food could lead to weight gain, bloating and therefore obesity.

But remember, to always keep an open mind when reading food blogs or food articles but be wise and eat everything in moderation! Yes I know there are vast articles written every single day about food; what to eat and what not to eat. Often, the messages in these articles could confuse us more than help us resolve our eating problems.

The articles could be about;
  • how meat could increase high blood pressure,
  • how fish could contain mercury,
  • how most articles discourage people from buying caged hens,
  • how most fruits and vegetables contain pesticides and so on.
If I was gullible, I would have resorted to eating....nothing!

Yes I would have probably turned bulimic and just drink water to keep me going lol. Therefore, I advise every reader to keep an open mind when it comes to reading articles or watching tv programs about food.

It is also important to understand that even articles that are supported by scientific evidence could still be wrong what more with articles that are written based from someone else's opinion that are not supported by scientific study? You see, even though the structure of our human body are similar such as having one brain, two legs, two arms and so on--our genetic makeup are a lot different from each other and often the state of our health could heavily rely on our genes. This means that stronger and healthy genes are less likely to get ill regardless of what food you eat. Other factors that could also make us less immune to illness and diseases is our lifestyle, please refer to my other blog 'Food that makes you beautiful'. Hence, it is vital that we consider food as only one of the many factors that could affect our state of health, body and therefore our appearance.

Until next time, stay healthy and good luck!
